Vol. 377 No. 6

Written Answers - Registration of Premises.

59.

asked the Minister for Health if his Department are responsible for the registration and sanitary operation of flour, confectionery and bakers premises; and if he has satisfied himself that all such premises are in fact registered and inspected.

Premises which are engaged in a flour, confectionery or bakery business are subject to control by the health boards under the Food Hygiene Regulations. The regulations provide that such premises must be registered. I am satisfied that the health boards fully enforce these registration requirements and carry out regular inspections to ensure that proper standards of hygiene are maintained.

If the Deputy has any specific information concerning the operation of a non-registered premises I would appreciate it if he gave me the necessary details so that I can have the matter pursued through the local health board.
