Vol. 377 No. 6

Written Answers - Self Employed Tax Statistics.

82.

asked the Minister for Finance the latest figures in relation to category by category breakdown of income tax paid by the self employed, nothing that the last such figures were contained in the Revenue Commissioners report of 1985 which related to the income tax year 1983-1984.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that statistics are not available which would enable the information requested by the Deputy to be given. Such information could not be obtained without undertaking inquiries which could be carried out only at a disproportionate cost.

The Revenue Commissioners are ceasing publication of the tables relating to trades and professions in their annual reports as the resources needed to produce these statistics are required to meet more important priorities in their office.
