Only a very small number of Prison Service personnel use canteen facilities at Portlaoise Prison. The building in which the facilities are currently located is scheduled for early demolition. Canteen facilities to the extent required are being included in a new building nearby, which is to be constructed this year and for which tenders have been invited.
