My Department, which compiles strike statistics on an estimated basis only, did not commence doing so until 1976. In the circumstances, I am not in a position to give the information sought for 1970. The Central Statistics Office which is the source of official statistics on strikes does not differentiate between official and unofficial disputes. However, its figure for strikes in 1970 is 134.
