Vol. 378 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cross-Border Security.

19.

asked the Minister for Justice whether or not cross-Border security has been affected so far by the serious difficulties surrounding the Stalker-Sampson Report and related issues; if so, the effects of this; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

31.

asked the Minister for Justice whether or not there is now full cross-Border security co-operation between the Garda and the RUC; whether any change in Government policy in this regard is planned; when the Garda Commissioner and the Chief Constable of the RUC intend to meet with each other to discuss security matters; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is proposed to answer Questions Nos. 19 and 31 together.

Security co-operation was fully discussed during yesterday's debate and I have nothing further to add to what was said during the course of that debate.

As regards meetings between the Garda Commissioner and the Chief Constable of the RUC, they take place as and when considered necessary by both men.
