asked the Minister for Justice the number of occasions since taking office on which he has used his powers under the Criminal Justice Act, 1951 to commute sentences imposed by the Courts.

I have commuted two custodial sentences pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act, 1951. A fine was substituted in lieu of the custodial sentence in both cases.
