Vol. 378 No. 3

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

112.

asked the Minister for Labour the reason for the delay in the payment of a redundancy and minimum notice payment to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; when payment will be made; the steps which have been taken or will be taken to ensure that the employer concerned complies with the tribunal's decision in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Payment of a statutory redundancy lump entitlement of £980 was made to the employee concerned from the Redundancy and Employers' Insolvency Fund on 12 February 1988.

My Department has not been advised that the award made to the worker by the Employment Appeals Tribunal under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973, has not been paid. The employer concerned has now been asked to make the payment and, if he fails to do so within a reasonable period, I will have the matter referred to my legal advisers with a view to the institution of enforcement proceedings against him.
