Vol. 378 No. 4

Written Answers. - Unemployment Assistance Statistics.

51.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare (a) the number of persons, given as male and female, aged 25 and over who are signing for credits but not in receipt of unemployment assistance and (b) the number of persons, given as male and female, over 18 years who are in receipt of unemployment assistance of (1) less than £5 per week (2) less than £10 per week and (3) less than £20 per week.

The information requested by the Deputy regarding persons on the live register signing for credits only is collected twice a year by the Central Statistics Office. The latest information available is for the 23 October 1987. On that date there were 3,107 men and 9,544 women on the live register aged 25 years or over and signing for credits only.

Records are not kept in such a way as to enable the information requested by the Deputy regarding recipients of unemployment assistance on different rates of payment to be made available.
