asked the Minister for Communications if he will allocate money from the EC Regional Fund to Bord Telecom Éireann to enable them to give priority to applicants for a telephone service in the more remote areas of County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter, having regard to the large number of applicants awaiting a telephone service in these areas.

Allocations from the Regional Fund are primarily a matter for the Commission of the European Communities and it is my understanding that the Regional Fund does not provide money for telephone subscriber connections. The priority given to connections is a matter for Bord Telecom Éireann.
