Vol. 378 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Invalidity Pension.

25.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total number of people who have had their entitlement to social welfare invalidity pension withdrawn, between the period 1 June 1987 and 31 January 1988; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In six cases in the stated period pension entitlements were withdrawn because the claimant was found to be capable of work or found to be concurrently working and claiming. In addition, 2,258 persons ceased claiming invalidity pension. The vast majority of these arose on transfer to other pensions where the rates are higher or on the death of the pensioner.
