Vol. 378 No. 6

Written Answers. - Revenue Dispute.

86.

asked the Minister for Finance the duration of the industrial disputes in the revenue collection centres in January 1987; and the extent to which Exchequer receipts were affected during this period.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that there was an industrial dispute in the Office of the Collector-General from 26 January 1987 to 4 February 1987. During this period the Exchequer net receipts on foot of PAYE, VAT (internal), income tax (self-employed and farmers) and corporation tax are estimated to have been reduced to the extent of £106 million. Of this, £102 million, approximately, was recovered over the period up to 16 February 1987 and the remaining £4 million by 23 February 1987.
