asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the combined outturn of expenditures for 1987 for AFT and ACOT; the number of staff in each of these bodies who have accepted redundancy and who have been redeployed; and the number of staff of both bodies engaged in food research who are no longer in these employments.

The combined outturn of expenditure for 1987 for AFT and ACOT was £53.9 million.

The numbers who have accepted redundancies are 280 in AFT and 162 in ACOT. No staff have been redeployed and the number no longer engaged in food research in AFT is 22 of whom six were partially engaged in this work. No staff in ACOT were engaged in food research.
