Vol. 378 No. 9

Written Answers. - Greystones (Wicklow) Garda Strength.

53.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will take steps to restore the level of Garda strength in Greystones, County Wicklow, to its former number of 22 from its present effective level of 17, taking into account the permanent absence of one member, the career break of another, and temporary transfer of another given the rapidly growing population of the whole area.

The detailed allocation of Garda manpower to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the Garda strength at Greystones station is due to be increased by one at the end of this month. The strength at the station will be kept under continuing review in the light of overall resources and the many other demands on Garda services which have to be met.
