Vol. 378 No. 10

Written Answers. - National Teachers Voluntary Redundancy Scheme.

158.

asked the Minister for Education regarding the voluntary redundancy offer to primary teachers, the precise number who have applied; the number of (a) men and (b) women who have applied; the number of principals who have applied; the number of teachers at the maximum point of the scale who have applied; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The last date for receipt of applications for consideration under the scheme of voluntary redundancy-early retirement for national teachers was Tuesday, 29 February 1988.

The 2,461 applications received are currently being processed by my Department. As the processing of applications will not require classification according to gender or incremental status my Department will not have this information readily available. When initial processing work has been completed I will be in a position to advise the Deputy of the number of applications received from school principals and I will write to him in this matter in due course.
