Vol. 378 No. 10

Written Answers. - Franchise for Irish Nationals Abroad.

21.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will introduce legislation to enable out-of-status Irish immigrants in the United States to vote in Irish elections through the Irish Consulate offices in the United States.

123.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the Government has any proposals to extend the franchise to Irish nationals abroad other than those currently working for the State who are legally entitled to vote in Irish elections while living abroad; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 21 and 123 together. I have no proposals for the extension of the franchise to or the provision of special voting facilities for Irish nationals living abroad.
