Vol. 379 No. 1

Written Answers. - Limerick City Casualty Services.

59.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received a report from the Mid-Western Health Board on the future of casualty services in Limerick city areas.

My decision to discontinue public funding to Barrington's Hospital will necessitate the implementation of revised arrangements for casualty services in Limerick. Already work is under way at Limerick Regional and St. John's Hospitals to provide enhanced casualty facilities at both locations. I have requested the management of the Mid-Western Health Board to liaise with both St. John's and Barrington's Hospitals to determine how best casualty services could be arranged in the Limerick city area.

I have not received any report from the Mid-Western Health Board but the management of the board is in close contact with my Department on this issue and I am satisfied that adequate arrangements will be implemented.
