The number of positions vacant in my Department on 14 March 1988 as a result of the restrictions on promotions within the Civil Service is 24. Of this number, nine relate to positions in An Foras Áiseanna Saothair which have recently taken over responsibility for the National Manpower Service functions of my Department.
Discussions are in progress with the Department of Finance in regard to the filling of some of these vacancies.
