Vol. 379 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Cork National School.

28.

asked the Minister for Education if she will indicate whether she intends to proceed with the extension to Ballinora national school, County Cork.

136.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give permission, as a matter of urgency, for the extension to Ballinora national school, County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 28 and 136 together.

Because of the pressure on the capital available to my Department for its national schools building programme, it will not be possible in the current financial year to advance further the planning of the extension scheme for Ballinora national school, County Cork, along the lines originally proposed.

Discussions are, however, taking place with the school authorities on the possibility of grant-aiding the provision of an alternative scheme in connection with their accommodation problems. These discussions have not yet been concluded. I will arrange for the Deputies to be informed of developments in due course.
