Vol. 379 No. 5

Shannon Ports Authority Bill, 1988: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to provide for the establishment of a harbour authority for the estuary of the Shannon; to provide for the powers and functions of such authority; and for those purposes to amend and extend the Harbours Acts, 1946 to 1976, and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.

Is the Bill opposed?

The Bill is not opposed but I should like to mention to the House that the Government have legislation to the same purpose and that it will be introduced immediately after the recess.

Question put and agreed to.

The Bill will be taken in Private Members' time in accordance with the Standing Order of the House.

The Collins version or the Noonan version?
