asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway despite the fact that he has fulfilled all the conditions and the work has been officially approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wexford was refused a new house grant.

A new house grant cannot be paid as the construction of the house does not comply with the Department's standard specification for the erection of a grant type house.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application from the person named. There is, however, an application for a person with the same name and from a broadly similar address. In that case notification of completion of works has not yet been received.

The appropriate grant has been paid and no further payment is due.

The receipt of certain information requested from the applicant is awaited.

asked the Minister for the Environment if approval can now be given for a mortgage subsidy for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 having regard to the fact that (a) the resident concerned surrendered a council house and consequently came under a special category clause (b) the delay in making the application by the resident concerned was because of misinformation given to him by Dublin County Council to the effect that he would not qualify because he was purchasing a second-hand house and (c) the application was filed with his Department before the closing date.

The receipt of certain information requested from the applicant is awaited.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.
