Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - Bathroom Facilities in Council Houses.

163.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he will make funds available to Kerry County Council under the remedial works scheme to enable the council to provide bathroom facilities in council houses at present without same.

Financial assistance under this scheme is given for remedying major structural defects in certain designated estates and the provision of bathrooms alone in local authority houses would not qualify.

Unsubsidised loan finance is, however, available from the Department to enable local authorities to carry out such improvements. It is a matter for them to submit proposals if they wish to avail of this assistance.
