Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

171.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether the extension to the Ballyheagan, Carbury, County Kildare, group water scheme will be allowed to proceed in the current year; if sufficient funds are available to allow the scheme to proceed; whether there is any difficulty in relation to the implementation of the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I assume the Deputy is referring to the proposed Kishawanny group water scheme.

The allocation of grants in respect of this scheme is being considered in the light of further membership details received in my Department from the group on 18 April 1988.

172.

asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the name of each group water supply scheme currently under consideration in respect of County Kildare (b) the number of participants in each scheme (c) the total cost of each scheme and the amount of grant available (d) the current state of progress in each of the schemes; whether any or all of these schemes will be advanced in the current year; if the administrative process is sufficiently advanced to allow the implementation of any or all of the schemes in the current year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Compilation of the information requested by the Deputy would require an inordinate amount of staff time and cost which would not be warranted.

173.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the first instalment of a mortgage subsidy for persons (details supplied) in County Kildare was sent to the Housing Finance Agency, when the persons do not have a Housing Finance Agency loan; the reason for the delay in sending the subsidy to the applicant since same has already been returned to his Department by the Housing Finance Agency; and if he will indicate when the applicants will receive their mortgage subsidy.

The applicants indicated on their application form that they had obtained a Housing Finance Agency loan, and in accordance with the conditions of the scheme the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy was paid to the agency. The applicants subsequently advised the Department that their loan came from another source and payment of the subsidy has now been made to them.
