asked the Minister for Education the total amount paid to the third level institutions in student fees in the years 1986 and 1987 and the projected amount for 1988.

The estimated income received by the colleges of education for primary teachers from student fees is as follows: 1986, £2,339,000; 1987, £2,276,000; 1988 (projected), £2,267,000.

The total amount paid by way of student fees to the third level institutions designated under the Higher Education Authority Act, 1971 is as follows: 1986, £34.363 million; 1987, £37.958 million; 1988, £40.513 million (projected).

Vocational Education Committee Third-Level Colleges

Tuition fee income: 1986, £8,300,000; 1987, £9,922,000. Projected Tuition fee income: 1988, £10,765,000.

Colleges of Education for Home Economics

Total amount paid in student fees: 1986, £353,777; 1987, £429,100; 1988 (projected), £454,000.
