asked the Taoiseach whether there have been any occasions in the past eight years where the accounting officer has refused to sanction the issue of large volumes of circular letters and postage from the Ministers or Ministers of State offices; and if he will give the details of same.

On no occasion in the past eight years have the accounting officers in my Departments refused such sanction for either the Office of the Taoiseach or the Office of any Minister of State in these Departments.

I am not aware that any such issue has arisen in my Department. However, my Department does not maintain detailed records of the type which would allow the information requested to be supplied.
