Vol. 379 No. 9

Written Answers. - Public Lighting in the Phoenix Park.

36.

asked the Minister for Finance, having regard to previous inquiries made by Deputy Michael Keating, the cost of public lighting during daylight hours along the main road of the Phoenix Park, Dublin 8; the reason for this practice; and whether it is proposed to continue it.

The cost of gas consumed by the restored lighting system on the main road of the Phoenix Park is at present borne by the firm which installed the system. The responsibility will transfer to the Commissioners of Public Works on 1 May 1988 and it is their intention that the light will operate during hours of darkness only.
