Vol. 379 No. 10

Written Answers. - Western Package.

42.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when grants will be available under the updated western package; if his attention has been drawn to the demand among farmers to avail of this scheme to remodel their farmyards and to construct holding tanks for effluent, especially silage effluent, in order to prevent pollution; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Detailed implementation plans for the revised western package which was agreed by the Council of Ministers on 9 March 1988 including the provision of investment aid for basic livestock housing, fodder storage and associated waste storage, are being drawn up at present and an announcement will be made when our proposals for the revised programme have been approved formally by the EC Commission.
