asked the Minister for the Marine the number of applications for commercial fish farms which have been received for developments on lakes in the Western and North-Western Fisheries Board areas; the number of such applications which have been approved; the organisations and companies to which approvals have been granted; and if he will indicate the locations of each such approval.

To date, 22 such applications have been received in respect of commercial fish farms on lakes in Counties Galway, Mayo and Sligo. Of these, 11 proposals have been approved to date whilst one has been withdrawn.
