Vol. 379 No. 11

Written Answers. - Interruptions to Energy Supplies.

30.

asked the Minister for Energy the preparations which exist to deal with the contingency of interruption in gas or electricity supply due to industrial disputes or major accidents; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is a contingency plan in the ESB to maintain supplies to meet essential generation and to keep electricity flowing on a zoned basis as in earlier stoppages.

Similarly, BGE have contingency plans in place to assure continuity in the availability of gas and to minimise disruption in the event of incidents which could interfere with the normal flow of suppies.

Theses plans are under continuous review in the interests of safety and efficiency.
