The amount of capital grants available to fishermen in 1988 for new and refurbished boats is £655,000.
BIM's marine credit plan provides for grants of 25 per cent towards the purchase of new vessels in the 6 metre to 9 metre category and 10 per cent grants in respect of vessels between 9 metres and 33 metres. Grants of up to 15 per cent are available towards vessel modernisation and capital improvements.
