asked the Minister for the Environment the reason payment of a £2,000 new house grant, a £2,250 builder's grant and a £3,000 mortgage subsidy have not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Neither a new house grant nor a £2,250 "builder's grant" can be allowed as contrary to a condition of the scheme a registered contractor was not involved in the construction of the house. A mortgage subsidy cannot be allowed as the application was received after March 1987, which was the final date for the receipt of such applications. The applicant has been so informed.

A further inspection is being arranged because the house was unoccupied, the inspector has been unable on a number of occasions already to inspect it. Subject to satisfactory completion of the works approved and the clarification by the applicant (as recently requested) of the actual cost of the works carried out by the contractor payment of the appropriate grants will be further considered.
