Vol. 380 No. 2

Written Answers. - Meeting with Irish Amusements Trade Association.

63.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in the light of the recent Supreme Court ruling on gaming machines and in view of the hardship caused to a number of law abiding operators and their families, he will meet, as a matter of urgency, a deputation from the Irish Amusements Trade Association to discuss possible changes in the law which might meet the legitimate objections which prompted the Dublin City Council resolution.

A deputation representing the Irish Amusement Trades Association had a meeting with officials of my Department on 25 April at which they outlined proposals for changes in the law relating to gaming. At the end of the meeting the representatives undertook to forward a list of their proposals to me. The list was delivered to my office on 2 May with a request for a meeting with me. I have that request under consideration.
