MMDS stands for Microwave Multipoint Distribution System. The frequency band 2.5 Gigahertz to 2.686 Gigahertz is being allocated to the system which will be licensed for the retransmission of terrestrial and satellite delivered television programmes on a point to multipoint basis, i.e. direct to homes.
