Vol. 380 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Mayo Coastal Erosion.

66.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount allocated for the protection from coastal erosion for the County Mayo coastline in 1988 in areas requiring attention.

The Commissioners of Public Works are empowered to undertake coast protection schemes in response to proposals made by local authorities in accordance with the provisions of the Coast Protection Act, 1963. At present the Commissioners have no such proposals from Mayo County Council and, accordingly, the allocation of funds to the Commissioners for coast protection works in County Mayo for 1988 has not arisen.
