Vol. 380 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Jobsearch Programme.

99.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if the reported savings from Jobsearch included expenditure saved by the non-payment of (a) the Christmas bonus payment and (b) the fuel scheme to trainees on AnCO courses who would have otherwise qualified; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The savings to my Department under the National Jobsearch Programme in 1987 included only provision for the ordinary weekly unemployment assistance or benefit which otherwise would have been payable to those who got employment, those who left the live register voluntarily when offered an opportunity to participate in a training course, a FÁS scheme or a job, and those whose claims were disallowed by deciding officers.
