Vol. 380 No. 5

Written Answers. - FCA Funding.

11.

asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to the serious financial situation which has occurred with FCA units as a result of the reduction in the grant-in-aid; the level of grant-in-aid to each unit for the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick West): During the past five years the maximum amount of grant as prescribed in Defence Force Regulations for FCA unit funds has been paid in all cases other than a very small number of units which were significantly under-strength. The maximum amount so payable is £1,565.

I can assure the Deputy that there is no question of any unit being put in a position of not being able to meet essential expenses.
