Vol. 380 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Harbour Marina.

52.

asked the Minister for the Marine if he will consider imposing a contractual obligation on the developers of the marina in Dún Laoghaire Harbour, County Dublin to go through the planning process, as was done in the case of the Dublin gas caverns in Dublin Bay, in view of the Taoiseach's declared interest in the project.

There is absolutely no comparision between a marina at Dún Laoghaire and the potential dangers associated with the gas coverns in Dublin Bay. Dún Laoghaire Harbour has always been used for morning boats and the provision of a marina will not change the usage of the harbour. The proposal in question is to be examined by the Planning Review Group. The lease from the OPW will, in any case, contain the usual clause requiring that, where planning permission is necessary, the lessee must obtain such permission and comply with the conditions attaching to it.
