Vol. 380 No. 5

Written Answers. - European Social Fund Education Grant.

72.

asked the Minister for Education the reason the full European Social Fund grant will not be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath having regard to the fact that it costs him £6-£7 each day for travelling; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The conditions governing the scheme of allowances for persons attending training courses under my Department's middle-level technician programme provide inter alia that the lower rate of grant is payable to persons who travel or could reasonably be expected to travel daily between their home and the college in which they are pursuing a training course. The higher rate of grant may only be paid to those who are obliged to stay overnight in a college town.
