asked the Minister for Labour the number of private consultants who have been engaged by his Department since 10 March 1987; the reason for their appointment; the terms and conditions of such appointment; the fee liability incurred to date; the fees paid to date; and if he will made a statement on the matter.

Since March 1987 the total fee liability incurred by my Department in relation to the engagement of nine private consultants was £80,152. Fees paid amounted to £73,338. Details are as follows:
