Vol. 380 No. 8

Written Answers. - Civil Servant's Expenses.

33.

asked the Minister for Finance the amounts payable to civil servants in respect of (a) motoring expenses per mile within the State, (b) subsistence allowances per diem in the State and (c) subsistence allowances per diem outside the State; and the totals expended by each Department on such expenses for the year 1987.

I propose to circulate the information requested in the form of tabular statements in the Official Report.

Notes

(a) Subsistence rates vary according to grade. For example, an assistant principal, or an officer of a level higher than assistant principal would be eligible for Class A rates, a higher executive officer for Class B rates etc.

(b) Night allowances are payable in respect of periods of up to 24 hours absence. The normal rate of night allowance may be paid at a given location for a limited period after which lower rates of subsistence are payable.
