In the fertiliser year ending 30 June 1987, 302 samples were taken by authorised officers and analysed in the State Laboratory. Forty nine of the samples were found to be at variance with the statutory standards. In the case of each deficient sample an explanation was sought from the manufacturers. Ongoing contact is maintained with the fertiliser trade in order to ensure compliance with the statutory standards.
