Vol. 380 No. 10

Written Answers. - Irish Citizenship Application.

66.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in processing the application of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 who applied for Irish citizenship as a Palestinian refugee; when a decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person referred to in the question is an alien who has applied for Irish citizenship through naturalisation as a stateless person under section 5 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1986. Inquiries are continuing to establish if he is a stateless person within the meaning of the United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons of the 28th day of September, 1954. A decision will be made as soon as inquiries have been completed and the applicant will be notified accordingly.
