Vol. 380 No. 10

Written Answers. - Headage Payments.

76.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a headage payment for 1987 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The person named will be paid his 1987 calf premium, special beef premium and suckler cow premium shortly.

A decision on whether the person named is now eligible for grants under the disadvantaged areas schemes will be made as soon as it can be established whether additional lands shown on his 1987 application form are inside or outside the less severely handicapped areas.

77.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details suppied) in County Waterford has only been paid beef premium in respect of 22 of 50 eligible cattle; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for grants under the special beef premium on 28 animals last July. Payment was made on 22 of these and the remaining six were found to be ineligible because one animal had no ear tag and the other five had no identity cards. On 9 December 1987 the person named lodged an application for the special beef premium scheme on 53 animals (including the 28 already mentioned) but this application was lodged too late for consideration of payment on the extra 25 animals listed on it.
