asked the Minister for the Environment the estimated cost of the housing works carried out by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; the actual cost; if the works were satisfactorily completed; and if anything remains to be undertaken in order to facilitate full grant payment.

The grant of £5,438 paid comprised a maximum grant of £2,000 for the provision of an extension and £3,438 being two-thirds of the cost as estimated by the inspector for necessary repairs to the fabric of the house. The original estimate of £6,013 in respect of the latter works included an element for repairs to an existing flat roof. However, the applicant subsequently revised his proposals with the result that these repairs were no longer necessary.
