Written Answers. - Tuam Water and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make an immediate decision on the application by Galway County Council for a special allocation of funds for the Tuam sewerage scheme, County Galway as the provision of the sewerage scheme is necessary in order for the town to secure a much needed industry.

A revised preliminary report for a sewerage scheme to serve Tuam town and to cater for a new meat processing industry was received in my Department last week and is being considered. The question of providing the necessary funds does not arise at this stage.

asked the Minister for the Environment if there are any plans regarding the application for the provision of an adequate water supply for Tuam, County Galway; and if so, when a decision will be made.

Approval to a preliminary report and to the preparation of contract documents for stage 1 of the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme was conveyed to Galway County Council in June, 1986. The further planning of the scheme is a matter for the county council.
