asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named in respect of the address given. An application has, however, been received from a person with the same surname and from a broadly similar address. In that case the grant will be paid as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the fact that a person (details supplied) in County Kerry is prepared to swear an affidavit that no work started on his house, which is the subject matter of his application for a house improvement grant, he will arrange for the allocation and payment of a grant in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In connection with the termination of the 1985 house improvement grants scheme, a grant can be allowed only where an inspection had been carried out on or before 27 March 1987. This condition cannot be waived in any individual case. Should the applicant, however, wish to carry out the works for which he obtained approval under the 1981 scheme a grant under that scheme will be considered in due course.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied in County Clare will have a final inspection and payment of a house improvement grant.

An inspection with a view to payment of the grant will be carried out as soon as possible.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

The receipt of certain information requested from the applicant is awaited.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a local authority house surrender grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

It is a condition of the £5,000 grant scheme that applicants must have been local authority tenants or tenant purchasers of at least three years standing on or before 27 March 1987. The applicants' eligibility for the grant in this regard is being examined in conjunction with Cork Corporation.
