Vol. 381 No. 3

Estimates, 1988. - Vote 39: Army Pensions.

Limerick West): I move:

That a sum not exceeding £40,385,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 1988, for retired pay, pensions compensation, allowances and gratuities payable under sundry statutes to or in respect of members of the Defence Forces and certain other Military Organisations, etc., and for sundry contributions and expenses in connection therewith; for certain extra-statutory children's allowances and for sundry grants.

I thank Deputies for their contributions. Because of the time at my disposal I have not dealt with all the points raised, but everything they have said will be taken into consideration by myself and by my officials. I thank you, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, for your courtesy.

In accordance with the order of the Dáil of this day, I am required to put the following question: "That the Estimates for Defence and Army Pensions for the year ending 31 December 1988 are hereby agreed to."

Question put and a division being demanded, it was postponed in accordance with Standing Order of the Dáil, No. 123 as modified by order of the House, until 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday next.
The Dáil adjourned at 4.35 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 31 May 1988.
