Vol. 381 No. 4

Written Answers. - VHI Cork Premises.

150.

asked the Minister for Health with reference to the VHI refusal to cover a person (details supplied) in County Cork for a city general hospital in Cork and the apparently difficult financial circumstances of the VHI, if he will give the following information:— (1) the date of acquisition and the price paid by the VHI for their new premises at 70 South Mall, Cork and the costs incurred by them to date and in (a) moving from their offices at nearby Cook Street, Cork and (b) legal and incidental fees paid to date in the acquisition and fitting out of their premises at 70 South Mall; and (2) the amount of rent paid by the VHI to the owner of the premises at Cook Street, Cork, since the date on which the VHI moved into 70 South Mall and whether the leasehold interest of the VHI in Cook Street has since been disposed of; and the precise details of the disposal of the leasehold interest.

The specific information requested by the Deputy in respect of the South Mall and Cook Street premises is not available in my Department. I would suggest that the Deputy approach the Voluntary Health Insurance Board on the issue. I might add that recognition of the hospital referred to is entirely a matter for the Board.
