Vol. 381 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Kerry Pilot Designated Areas.

68.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the parishes and townlands in south County Kerry which are included in the pilot designated area recently announced; the improvements which will take place; and the moneys which will be allocated for same.

As I announced on 9 May 1988 the Government have decided that the integrated rural development programme will be introduced on a pilot basis in 11 areas. One of the areas is the South Kerry region, the south and west portion of the Iveragh peninsula. Funds for this new initiative will be provided both by the Exchequer and by the EC. Negotiations with Brussels on the funds have already commenced and once these have been successfully concluded it will then be possible to provide details of the programme, including financing, the precise areas, the main categories of development and all other relevant aspects.
