Vol. 381 No. 5

Written Answers. - Glenbrien (County Wexford) School.

84.

asked the Minister for Education the new offer made to the chairman of the board of management of Glenbrien national school, County Wexford, concerning the new school plans; the estimated cost; the grant which the board of management will receive; and if the surroundings will be tarmacadamed.

The principal point to emerge from the most recent discussions with the authorities of Glenbrien national school, County Wexford, was that the school is prepared to provide from its own resources the full cost of a general purposes area in the proposed new school building. My Department would then grant-aid in the normal way the low cost classroom element of the project. The schedule of the project's ancillary accommodation and the nature and extent of necessary site works have yet to be settled. It is not my Department's practice to disclose the financial details of individual projects the subject of grant applications, such information being considered to be confidential as between the school authorities and my Department.

I shall arrange to have the Deputy informed of developments when discussions with the school authorities have been completed.
