The estimate of 4,000 new jobs created in the manufacturing and international services sector in the first quarter of 1988 is based on surveys conducted by the principal State industrial promotion agencies. Information on major project start-ups and on firms which contributed significantly to job numbers in the first quarter of 1988 is set out in the joint Government-ICTU statement on job creation developments under the Programme for National Recovery which was published on 27 May 1988. A detailed breakdown along the lines requested by the Deputy is not available.
